Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal data Maargdarshan — private astrology guidance (“Maargdarshan”) collects, why, and the rights you have over it. We aim to collect only what the astrology engine genuinely needs. Maargdarshan AI Private Limited is the data fiduciary responsible for your data.

What we collect

• Account: your mobile number and verification status, used to sign you in.
• Birth details: date, time, and place of birth. These are required to compute your chart. Your place is converted to coordinates and a timezone for the calculation.
• Optional profile details: your name (improves numerology and personalisation), and optionally gender, relationship status, occupation, and a short bio. You can leave these blank.
• Your questions & readings: the questions you ask and the answers we generate, kept so you have a history and so we can improve quality.
• What the guide remembers about you: when you tell it something durable about your life in a conversation — your work, your family, a decision you are weighing — it saves that as a short note against your profile, so later readings are personal instead of starting from scratch each time. You can see everything it has remembered, and delete any of it or all of it, under your profile at any time.
• Payment information:your plan, amount, status, and the payment gateway’s order/payment identifiers. Payments are handled by our gateway — we do not store your card or UPI credentials.
• Technical data: a hashed session token, an optional device fingerprint, and basic usage events used for security and reliability.

Why we collect it (purpose limitation)

Each field is used only for the purpose it was collected: your number for sign-in; birth details to compute your chart; optional details to personalise readings; questions and readings to provide your history and improve the service; remembered life notes to make your later readings personal to you; payment data to process purchases and prevent fraud. We do not use your data for unrelated purposes.

Consent

We process your data on the basis of the consent you give when you sign up. You can withdraw consent at any time by deleting your data or account (see Your rights). Withdrawing consent does not affect processing already carried out.

Who we share it with

We share the minimum necessary with trusted processors to run the service:

• AI providers (e.g. Anthropic and OpenAI) receive your computed chart facts and your question to generate the reading. This processing may occur outside India.
• Payment gateway (Razorpay) processes your payments.
• Geocoding (OpenStreetMap / Nominatim) converts your place of birth into coordinates.
• Hosting & infrastructure providers store the data securely on our behalf.

We do not sell your data or use it for third-party advertising.

International transfers

Because some AI processing happens outside India, your chart facts and question may be processed abroad. We only use reputable providers and share the minimum needed to generate your reading.

How long we keep it

We keep your data while your account is active. You can delete individual profiles and conversations at any time, or delete your whole account, after which we erase your personal data — except records we must retain for legal, tax, or fraud-prevention reasons (such as payment records), which we keep only as long as required.

How we protect it

Data is encrypted in transit. Session tokens and one-time codes are stored only as hashes, and access is restricted. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data and respond to incidents responsibly.

Your rights

Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, you can:

• access a copy of your data (Settings → Download my data);
• correct your details by editing your profiles;
• erase your data by deleting profiles, conversations, or your whole account;
• withdraw consent; and
• nominate another person to exercise your rights, as the law allows.

To exercise any right or raise a grievance, use your in-app settings or contact our Grievance Officer, Grievance Officer, Maargdarshan, at support@maargdarshan.ai. We will respond within the timelines required by law.

Children

The service is for adults aged 18 and over and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy; the version and date at the top will change. For significant changes we will seek your consent again where appropriate. See also our Terms and Disclaimer.
